0:07.0	Welcome to our June Reflections and Corrections episode. Let's start with the
0:17.2	reflections. We recently finished our 16th book of the Bible and are currently
0:21.5	working our way through two others so let's get the
0:24.0	30,000 foot view on where we are in the chronological timeline of the Bible's overall
0:28.4	meta-narrative. The Bible is one unified story. Way back in Genesis, God set out to build a relationship with one particular family,
0:36.6	but things go terribly wrong when they fracture the relationship through sin.
0:40.4	But their sin doesn't surprise God.
0:42.4	He already had a plan in place to restore this
0:44.7	relationship even before it was broken. And he continues working out that plan immediately,
0:50.1	undeterred and unhindered by their rebellion.
0:53.0	He sets apart a man named Abraham to be the patriarch of the family,
0:56.0	and he gives this family a name,
0:58.0	the Israelites.
0:59.0	They're a bunch of busted people who lie, cheat, and steal. God blesses them despite their sin, but sin still
1:06.2	has its consequences. One of the long storylines of consequences of the 400 years they spent
1:11.5	enslaved in Egypt.
1:13.0	God sends a man named Moses to demonstrate his power to the Egyptian ruler
1:18.0	who reluctantly agrees to let the Israelite slaves go.
1:21.0	They flee to the desert, led by God and his servant Moses and then
1:25.1	little by little God gives these people the basic rules of how to have a stable
1:29.3	society. All they've ever known is slavery and a cruel dictator.
