It is Friday, June 9th, 2023. Let's get into the mix. Here are your

Washington headlines of the day. Number one, Donald Trump was indicted on federal charges. Number two,

the deadlines you're not thinking about yet. And number three, a scoop. The House Ethics Committee

has restarted its probe of Matt Gates. Let's get into it. This is not a, um, uh, anything that

you don't know by now because it happened last night, but former president Donald Trump has

been indicted on federal charges, uh, in the classified document scandal. The New York

Times reports that the charges include willful retention of

national defense secrets, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. The former president is scheduled

to appear in a Miami federal court on Tuesday at 3.30 p.m. Trump is the first former president

to be indicted on federal criminal charges. He's facing 34, excuse me, felony charges in

New York City related to an alleged 2016 hush money payment to former porn star Stormy Daniels.

He has pleaded not guilty to all the counts in that case. CNN's Caitlin Collins did an interview

with Trump's lawyer Jim Trustee last night. Trustee called the charges ludicrous and kind of a stretch.

Trump's campaign also released several statements, including a lengthy attack on Jack Smith.

Another focus for Trump's defense team is Jay Brad, a federal prosecutor over his

interaction with a lawyer for Trump's valet.
