Good morning, everyone. I'm Playbook co-author, Ryan Lizza. It's Tuesday, June 13th, and I'm coming to you from Miami, where Donald Trump is scheduled to be arraigned today.

0:17.4

The last few days, we focused on what's in that 37 count indictment against Trump.

0:23.6

In the newsletter today, we're going to take a look at what Trump's best defenses may be as this criminal case goes forward.

0:31.6

And now to break down what we can expect to happen today in Miami, we're going to bring in Politico's Josh Gerstein. Good morning, Josh.

0:40.8

Hey, Ryan. Good to chat with you. Let's start quickly with what's going to happen today. What is the

0:46.6

schedule here? So we expect sometime in the mid-afternoon around 1-2 o'clock, former president's

0:53.9

motorcade, to show up at the

0:56.0

federal courthouse, one of the federal courthouse buildings in downtown Miami.

1:00.3

And probably he'll go through some sort of booking process at that point, similar to what

1:04.5

folks saw up in New York City, likely to involve fingerprinting and maybe a DNA swab and so forth, sort of the indignities of

1:12.6

being charged criminally in the federal system. And then around three o'clock, we expect him to go

1:18.4

to the 13th floor of that courthouse and go in front of a magistrate judge to have the formal

1:24.6

initiation of this historic criminal case against him, to have the charges

1:28.8

read to him, to have the potential punishments read to him to make sure that he has a lawyer

1:33.4

and to set some future date for the case. It's also possible they'll talk about release conditions.

1:40.3

That's something they normally bring up at a hearing such as this, but I can't imagine it being a very significant issue when you're talking about the former president.

1:47.6

And I'd also mention there will be, we believe, another defendant there, Walt Nauta, who is the president's former valet and a personal aide who was also charged in this indictment.

1:56.9

We expect him and his lawyers to be there too.

1:59.6

Let's talk about some of the folks who will be in the court today.

2:05.4

The former president has been having some trouble recruiting lawyers to his team.

2:11.1

I know you've been doing some reporting about that. Josh, what can you tell us?
