0:13.2	Welcome to our July Reflections and Corrections episode.
0:16.9	Let's start with the reflections.
0:19.1	Tomorrow we will finish our 22nd book of the Bible, and we're currently working our way

0:25.0	So let's get the 30,000-foot view on where we are in the chronological timeline of the
0:29.6	Bible's overall meta-narrative.
0:32.5	The Bible is one unified story.
0:35.1	Way back in Genesis, God set out to build a relationship with one particular family,
0:39.8	but things go terribly wrong when they fracture the relationship through sin.
0:43.8	But their sin doesn't surprise God.
0:45.8	He already had a plan in place to restore this relationship even before it was broken,
0:49.9	and he continues working out that plan immediately, undeterred and unhindered by their rebellion.
0:56.4	He sets apart a man named Abraham to be the patriarch of the family God calls the Israelites.
1:01.8	There are a bunch of busted people who lie, cheat and steal.
1:05.4	God blesses them despite their sin, but sin still has its consequences.
1:09.8	One of the long storylines of consequence is of the 400 years they spent enslaved in Egypt.
1:15.9	God sends a man named Moses to demonstrate his power to the Egyptian ruler, who reluctantly
1:20.4	agrees to let the Israelites' slaves go.
1:23.0	They flee to the desert, led by God and his servant Moses, and then little by little,
1:28.2	God gives these people the basic rules of how to have a stable society.
