Hello, I'm Simon Corder, welcoming you to my independent travel podcast, bringing you the latest news on

travelling, whether you're dreaming of a great escape, looking forward to one or actually away and

having the time of your life. I'm sitting here in a fairly busy outdoor cafe and there is some cheerful chatter but there's also a bit

of road noise but I hope that you will bear me out. I wanted to give you a snapshot of what people

are concerned about because there's an awful lot of apprehension out there and I wanted to

just go through really the questions I've just been answering in a so-called ask me

anything that we do at the independent every week generally on a Thursday but it all

depends on what the events are and we try to fit

in with the news agenda. And I'm delighted to say, by the way, that the British Airway Strike,

which was threatened, has been settled. This was 700 ground staff at Heathrow.

They had an overwhelming mandate to strike, but they have now settled with BA.

It appears that British Airways came up with a decent offer, which I'm very happy about.

Generally, my view is that we've had it too good for too long and that partly because of the

way that we demand low fares we've been perhaps making it really tough for people who should

be well rewarded for their work in aviation.

Anyway, let me spin through these. Here's, here's the Macdukes and they are

they're going to Crete in September. They're worried about what might possibly happen in terms of the

awful situation of cancellations with British airways and Jet 2, what's going to happen?

And I've basically just said, look, if you're not going until September,

then first of all, British Airways and EasyJet have almost certainly finished the vast majority of their

cancellations. So don't worry about that.
