Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook co-author Eugene Daniels. It's Thursday, July 27th. Here's what's driving the day.

Florida governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis is in Iowa as the, quote, special guest for a bus tour for his super PAC, never back down.

It's part of his kind of revitalization, revisit, reset of his campaign.

And we take a look at some of the candidates that he's been compared to, Scott Walker, Jeff Bush,

Rick Perry, as folks who burned out a little quickly and not more quicker than they wanted to

when they ran for president. But we look at the blueprint that he could or any of the candidates who end up in this

position could follow.

And there's John McCain who went from the bottom of the heap to winning the presidential

nomination in 2008.

So take a look at that in the top of Playbook today.

Also, President Biden's son Hunter's plea deal hit a roadblock

during its federal court hearing yesterday. This was something that was pretty unexpected.

And as someone who covers the White House, I can tell you. It's been annoying for this

White House because folks were ready to kind of put some of this behind them. We thought this for the most part,

this proposed deal between Biden and the Justice Department was going to be a done deal.

It's not dead, but it is going to last a little bit longer than folks in the White House and then Biden world wanted it to.

Also, the Federal Reserve says that the United States will

avert a recession in 2023. This they said after they raised interest rates for the 11th time

since March 2022. And joining me to discuss all of that is ace economics reporter, Victoria

Greta.
