Good morning, everyone. I'm Playbook co-author, Ryan Lizza. It's Tuesday, July 25th. Here's what's driving the day.

First, in Playbook, we take a look this morning at how the impending indictment of Donald Trump for his role in the January 6th riot at the Capitol is affecting the Republican primary.

Trump is personally monitoring every statement made by his opponents and attacking

anyone who dares to side with the prosecutors. And it's working. Rather than leverage the potential

criminal charges against the frontrunner, Trump's main competitors, including and especially

Ron DeSantis, are treating the Jack Smith criminal case as a kind of third rail in the primary.

Trump's senior advisor Jason Miller put it this way to playbook. You cannot run for the president in the Republican primary based solely on the hope and prayer that Democrats and their weaponization of our justice system will somehow be immediately successful. Whatever you think

of that statement, it is hard to argue that the Trump campaign is incorrect in that political

assessment. But, and this is a very important caveat, we'll all have to wait and see what the

indictment actually says, perhaps this week, and whether it changes the catch-22 that Trump's opponents find themselves in.

Second up this morning, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who has been relatively cautious, at least compared to many of his colleagues on the right, when it comes to using the I-word is now saying that Joe Biden might be

impeached. Quote, this is rising to the level of impeachment inquiry, McCarthy said, last night

during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, alleging that Biden has orchestrated the, quote,

weaponization of government to benefit his

family and deny Congress the ability to have the oversight, end quote.

Such a probe, he added, would unleash Republicans, quote, strongest powers to secure evidence

from the White House to prove their allegations to the public. We will be watching

that very closely in the days to come. And finally, one fun thing today, you may have heard of

the super secret annual gathering in California known as Bohemian Grove. I've certainly been

deeply interested in this thing for years and years. Very little

ever leaks out about this event. You may have heard years ago, the conspiracy theorist Alex

Jones, one of his first pieces of guerrilla journalism. He ran through the forest to try and
