On July 3rd, I was on vacation in Tennessee, and Mike Gambino, who is the manager or head coach of the Boston College baseball team,

texted me at 818 in the morning and say, hey, those reports about Pete aren't true.

He's still fighting.

I spoke to John, and I got back to him in a timely

fashion at 1204 is that when you woke up yeah and I'm in Tennessee what are these reports

oh bad and he says Jesus morning was nuts it got reported that Pete passed away and the local

sports stations were picking it up and I just wanted to make sure you

had it right. I mean, Andrew, so, okay, let's just start for the beginning. So early in the

morning, this report goes out. Mark, Mike Barnacle tweets out that according to him, a family

friend had told him that Pete had passed. That was up for maybe 45 minutes before it got corrected.

What was the first notice that you had that there was a report that was picking up steam in the

mainstream media that your brother had passed away? Our house was going like a frenzy.

I was with Pete about six to eight hours before. I was with him

Sunday night and there was a 10 minute window where our family, we were kind of doubting

ourselves. Mike Barnacle put our house into a little bit of a tailspin. And so you were, okay,

so you were at home. Yep. He's in the hospital. So there's part of you thinking, whoa, what if?

What if someone at the hospital leaks something and we don't know?

We have a private nurse that is on 24 hours a day with Pete as well while in the hospital.

And her phone was off.

So we were trying to call her.

And we weren't getting any response. So there was

about a 10 minute window, you know, where we were even just kind of, oh, boy, you know. We, like I said,
