Gooday there, Steve Murray here with my humble attempt to try and provide what I think

to be the accurate pronunciation for some key Roman names and concepts from the late

Republican period. I thought I might start by Pullinger Sulla, so Lucas Cornelius Sulla Felix.

Also, Lucchinius Lucullus and Quintus Littotius Cacullus.

Moving on to the three triumvirs, or more accurately triumweirs,

Gaius Julius Caesar would more accurately be pronounced Gaius Ulius Kaiser,

Nius Pompeius Magnus, he's Pompeii, and also Marcus Likinius Crassus.

Perhaps the other most famous Roman at the time was Marcus Tullius Cicero, perhaps more accurately

pronounced Marcus Tullius Kikero.

His colleague for the consulship was Gaius Antonius Hibreda.

Among the so-called Optimates was Marcus Porkius Cato and Caesar's colleague for the consulship, Marcus Calpurnius Bibulus.

It seems like there was always a Mattelus around to cause trouble.

Quintus Caichelius Mattelus Keeler is one, and Quintus Caccellius Mattelius Pius is another.

The famous Cateline of the Catalina conspiracy would have been Lucius Sergius Catalina,

and the famous Tribune of the plebs, Publius Claudius Pulcia.

Moving on to some other words,

the chief priest would have been the Pontifex Maximus,

and their chief priest of Jupiter would have been the Flamen Diallus.

The assemblies, the Comitia Conjuriata,

and the Comitia Tributor,

and I think my personal favourite of Cam's, the Sinartist Consultum ultimum.
