Hi everyone and thank you for tuning in to episode 169 ofatter, the Hollywood Reporters Awards

podcast. I'm the host Scott Feinberg and my guest today is quite possibly

the greatest comedy actress in the history of television. A record 18-time Emmy nominee, not to mention a seven-time

winner, for comedy performances spread between NBC's Seinfeld, CBS's The New Adventures of

Old Christine, and HBO's Vip, The Great Julia Louis Dreyfus.

Louis Dreyfus, who is 56 was plucked out of Northwestern University 35 years ago by NBC's

Saturday Night Live on which she appeared from 1982 through 1985.

She was back on the Peacock network just four years later when Jerry Seinfeld and Larry

David were instructed by suits to add a female cast member to their new show the Seinfeld Chronicles

which of course became the iconic comedy series Seinfeld and on which Louis Dreyfus played Jerry's ex-girlfriend and best friend, Elaine

Venice, who, groundbreakingly, was just one of the guys.

Louis Dreyfus followed her nine seasons on Seinfeld spanning 1989 through 1998 with two highly regarded

but relatively short-lived sitcoms, NBC's Watching Ellie, which aired from 2002 through 2003, and the aforementioned the New Adventures of Old

Christine which ran from 2006 through 2010. Just as some were starting to

throw around the notion that she had fallen victim to a much discussed Seinfeld

curse, she re-emerged in 2012 on VEpe as hilarious Selina Meyer, an ambitious

bumbling foul-mouth politician fixated on the Oval Office.

We now have seen six seasons of Veepe, each of which has brought Louis Dreyfus Emmenoms for Best Comedy

Series as one

best actress in a comedy series as its star. The show has won best comedy series the last two years in a row

and could three peat on September 17th.

She meanwhile has won best actress in a Comedy Series for all five seasons that have been eligible up to this point
