Summary
After another shambolic weekend of VAR, there was only one thing we could start with on today’s episode of Jules & Andy. As officials mishandle baffling clear decisions, we discuss the effect these mistakes has on players’ most visceral emotions while on the pitch and the lack of training for match officials. We also speak to former Premier League referee Peter Walton, who wonders whether the Premier League was even ready for VAR this season due to this lack of training and understanding.
It’s not all VAR chat, though, as we take another look at FFP in light of UEFA’s decision to ban Manchester City from European competition. We examine what the policy aims to achieve in a wider context, how it works in practice and how clubs can spend their money on vast improvements without breaking any regulations.

| 0:13.0 | Well, after another difficult weekend for VR, we discuss whether the Premier League were |
| 0:18.0 | ready to introduce it this season with the help of Peter Walton, former Premier League referee. |
| 0:23.6 | And after your reaction to Manchester City and FFP last week, we move on from City's case |
| 0:29.3 | and examine what exactly FFP is all about. |
| 0:33.7 | Well, Andy, we had the pleasure of sharing the sofa on Saturday afternoon on BT Sports score |
| 0:38.8 | together and what an afternoon it was. It was a great afternoon. Of course, I'm not all about |
| 0:44.6 | the statistics, I'm not all about the numbers, but you do only two custom creams. |
| 0:48.0 | I do, I do custom creams. Andy had a whole plate of biscuits with a great selection, |
| 0:53.4 | whereas I got a little plate of biscuits and they were all chocolate ones and I'm not a |
| 0:57.1 | chocolate biscuit fan. But yeah, it was one of those afternoons where I felt like we talked about |
| 1:02.3 | VAR way too much in the Premier League games and I had a feeling that this would be one of the |
| 1:07.6 | topics of our discussions today. Yeah, and sorry, I'm born with fans, but I think we are going to |
| 1:15.2 | start with the Giovanni LaCelle so I think, aren't we? Because that was not debatable, really not |
| 1:22.9 | debatable. And yeah, I think we'll get on to hear what Peter Walton has to say about it, |
| 1:31.3 | but I suspect he might have. I think he'll look at the employment of the technology |
| 1:38.9 | rather than the technology itself, which is, you know, something, because it's so new, |
| 1:46.0 | I think the analysis is sometimes quite confused and that's why it would be great to get Peter on |
| 1:50.9 | because he'll be able to provide, you know, genuine referees clarity of the situation, |
| 1:57.6 | which I think is something that's been lacking so far. Yeah, I do too. And look, there's absolutely |
| 2:01.7 | no doubting it. VAR right now in the way it is and the way it's employed in terms of the way the |
