Summary

Nic from the True Crime Garage podcast joins me to discuss Judy Martins. On the night of May 23rd, 1978, Judy Martins went out with friends for a little fun. Memorial Day Weekend was on the horizon and she had plans to go out of town with her friends. Police say she left her friends dorm at Kent State University to walk a short distance to her dormitory. This would be the last time she would be seen again. She wouldn't be reported missing for more than a day since she lived alone. The case never seemed to materialize and eventually went cold. Unfortunately, Judy's parents have passed away and this case remains unsolved to this day. Her brother and sister would like to see this case resolved and believes it can be done. 0:21.8	On this week's show, we were going to take a look back at a case from 1978.
0:26.6	But before we get started, I want to talk about what I participated in on Wednesday, October 27.
0:32.5	And that was The Walk for Amy.
0:35.1	And this was in honor of 10-year-old Amy Mahalovic, who was abducted from
0:39.7	the Bay Village Shopping Plaza in Bay Village, Ohio on October 27, 1989. I was a 10-year-old and was
0:48.8	living in the city that borders Bay, and it was something that was extremely tragic and definitely hit
0:57.4	close to home because of course these are small suburbs and everybody's parents were extremely
1:05.0	worried that they were going to be the next abducted child. And again, this case is still unsolved.
1:12.8	And what makes her case unique is that she was actually lured to the plaza.
1:17.5	And so this was a premeditated act.
1:20.2	This was not some abduction of opportunity.
1:23.9	This was something that was planned.
1:26.9	And, again, unfortunately, she was found dead about 100 days after she went missing.
1:33.9	So the walk for Amy was in honor of Amy Mahalovic and her family and the community,
1:42.2	and we all hope one day that we'll be able to find the answers
1:45.2	to the case that is haunted Northeast Ohio for a number of years. But there's another case
1:53.1	that has also haunted Northeast Ohio for a number of years, and that is the missing person's
1:59.3	case of Judy Martins, and she was from
2:02.6	Avon Lake, but was going to Kent State University at the time of her disappearance. In order to make
