I'm sitting here looking over today's stories and items,

and what really struck me is that

on each subject,

you have a running narrative,

and that cuts both ways

from the point of view of journalists who produce,

I hate this word, content.

So on the one hand, if you presume that people who are listening to you, watching you on TV,

checking out the podcast, listening on the radio, whatever, if you assume they have some basic familiarity with what's happened so far,

you can condense that what is called B matter in newspaper parlance,

and skip to whatever stuff may be new.

On the other hand, it helps journalists because a lot of times

there's not, even in the Trump era, yes, even in the Trump era, there's not a whole lot of new

stories emerging on any particular day.

Lots of days there are, like on the pardons, and we'll get to that.
