And new this morning, hundreds of children are in legal limbo after a judge blocked the Trump administration from returning them to Guatemala in the middle of the night. All of the children arrived in the U.S. by themselves, and it's not believed that they have a parent in this country.

Some were already on planes to head back to Guatemala when the judge ordered them to turn around.

One lawyer tells CNN many of the children were awakened in the middle of the night, terrified and confused.

The judge says she got the emergency call around 2.30 a.m. on Sunday, quote,

I have the government attempting to remove unaccompanied minors from the country in the wee hours of the morning on a holiday weekend, which is surprising, but here we are.

CNN's Priscilla Alvarez joins us.

So Priscilla, where are the children now and what happens next?

Well, Pamela, we have learned from the Justice Department that they have returned 74 children

to U.S. government custody.
