If you're a doctor and you have no skilled, your patients will die. And if you're an entertainer

and not to entertain, you're going to die. And if you're a judge and fail to make judgments

because you're ill-prepared, because you don't know people, then you shouldn't be a judge,

then you're really taking the lives of people and things that are important to them and

saying really doesn't matter.

That's Judge Judy Scheindland talking about more than being a judge. I think she's talking

about that thing that enables any of us to communicate with someone, being able to

read the other person. From what I can see, Judge Judy is super-betted and it certainly

makes her a popular judge. Our Emmy-winning television show Judge Judy has been on the

air for 22 seasons and for many of those years has been the top-rated show in daytime television.

I'm curious about how she reads people and how her audience reads her.

You know, what I can't figure out is what it is at the core of your show. I know you're

at the core of your show and your personality. What is it that makes it so popular?

22 years, it's number one in daytime. 10 million people a day watch you. That's the

number of those are the figures I've got. That's right.

It's funny. It's a great detective story. I'm trying to figure out what you're determining

from what you ask, whether you're going to get on the right track with these people.

Are they looking for justice? Are they looking for family fights?

That's a lot of questions in there, Alan.

You know, somebody once said that the genesis of the popularity of my program

was the O.J. Simpson trial.
