Welcome to Rommel Strip, Vermont. That's Jubal Dervage. I'm sitting in my front yard watching these trucks roll by.

It's funny because it's really hot, but you can also feel on the edges of the day and certainly at nighttime you can feel fall coming on.

And as soon as the nights start getting colder around here, these pickup trucks start driving up and down my road really slow.

Today I noticed the first one and I don't really understand what they see from their trucks, but it's all part of getting ready for deer season.

Jubal Dervich is from Eden, Vermont, and I met him through my boyfriend Gordon. Gordon and his two

partners, Robbie and Hilton, own a small hydroelectric plant way up near the

Canadian border in North Troy, Vermont.

The place was pretty run down when they bought it,

and most of what most of the work that has been done

on the site they've done themselves.

But over the years, they have hired

a handful of people from the Northeast Kingdom, crane operators and

engineers, and Jubal, Jubil is one of the few certified bridge welders in

Vermont, and he's the kind of person who walks on a job site and people respect

him automatically.

He's a hard worker, he thinks things through before he does them, and he also doesn't talk unless he has something to say.

Jubil is also one of the most passionate deer hunters I have ever met in Vermont.
