So let's start with a broad general points.

The first and seemingly most obvious step to ensure that you get the most out of a program is to know who is

giving the workshop. I know I'm Captain obvious right? But seriously make sure you know

a little more than what the instructor's paintings look like or how popular he or she is on

Facebook. Also be clear on what you want.

Know what you're getting yourself into and get an idea of what you want out of it,

and then proactively dive in.
