0:13.0	Today we are on a journey through Scripture.
0:16.0	We hope you'll join us as we make 66 stops through each book of the Word of God.
0:37.1	The oldest book of the Bible is not the book of Genesis.
0:40.3	Now, it goes back to the very beginning, no doubt.
0:43.3	But the oldest book of the Bible, it predates the writing of the Pentateuch, is the book of Job.
0:49.3	And it's an interesting book because the book of Job deals with the oldest issue in the world and that is the problems
0:57.0	that human beings deal with. Man that is born of woman is a few days and full of trouble. Well,
1:04.8	Job had his share of trouble, maybe more than most would ever have in a lifetime. He lived around
1:10.5	2000 BC about the time of the patriarchs,
1:13.5	but we believe perhaps he lived prior to Abraham and to Isaac and to Jacob because there's no
1:20.0	mention of Israel, no mention of Egypt, or the law, or Canaan. And so this is a very ancient book
1:25.6	that we've come to journey through today.
1:28.9	We're journeying through Job.
1:32.3	And the theme of the book is why the righteous suffer.
1:38.2	You know, Job probably suffered more than about any man in scripture outside the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:40.0	He lost his wealth.
1:41.6	He lost his children.
1:43.2	He lost his health.
1:45.7	He lost his wife's support. She said, curse God and die. He lost his children. He lost his health. He lost his wife's support.
1:47.6	She said, curse God and die.
1:49.3	He lost his friends.
