0:13.0	Today we are on a journey through Scripture.
0:16.0	We hope you'll join us as we make 66 stops through each book of the Word of God.
0:37.2	Our journey through Scripture today brings us to the book that has been called the
0:41.5	Proverbs of the New Testament. For a couple of reasons. One, it emphasizes the wisdom that is from
0:47.7	above. It shows us the divine wisdom, the heavenly wisdom that we all need. But for another reason, it is a deeply practical book.
0:57.8	The book of James is a book that helps you know how to live the life of faith every day.
1:04.8	It's been often misunderstood.
1:06.1	For example, even the man Martin Luther refused to accept this book.
1:12.8	He called it the Epistle of Straw.
1:15.1	Now, why would he call it such a thing?
1:22.9	Well, Martin Luther, you remember, had lived with such an oppressive idea of working his way to God, working his way to heaven.
1:25.8	And he came to that truth of the gesture lived by faith.
1:30.3	And when he came to the book of James, he thought that James neglected faith. But he missed it. He misinterpreted it. Don't miss it.
1:33.6	James is one of the books we refer to as the Hebrew Christian church epistles.
1:38.3	We just journeyed through the book of Hebrews.
1:40.9	And that began this section for us.
1:42.7	Well, James was written to Hebrew believers,
1:45.6	people who had come out of Judaism to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And now James writes to
1:52.2	these Hebrew believers to explain to them how that their faith in Christ is now to produce the right
2:00.2	kind of works. It's very important that you understand that
