From KCRW, I'm Kim Masters, and this is the business. Investigative reporter and documentary

producer David Holt House was sexually assaulted at age seven. As a result of that trauma,

he's devoted his life to unmasking monsters, including his rapist. He reflects on the impact of that

event on his career and talks about his latest project,

the Hulu series Sasquatch. It follows a tale of a possible triple homicide that Holt House heard

when he was working briefly on a cannabis farm when he was in his early 20s. Some locals held

that the killer really was a literal monster, said to prowl the dense forests of Northern California's so-called Emerald Triangle.

Another director I work with named Josh Ruffay,

he texted me kind of out of the blue,

and he'd become a fan of this podcast called, I think, Sasquatch Chronicles, something like that.

And he was like, man, if we could just find some sort of, like,

legit true crime story wrapped up in a Sasquatch myth.

And I immediately like flashed on this experience I'd had.

Holt House talks about the perils of chasing down a possible killer, as well as his years obsessively planning to murder the man who assaulted him as a child. And he explains how a

one-off appearance in a student documentary about cockfighting led to his career in nonfiction films.
