we started recording the podcast and the news is that Josh Norman is going to be released by

the Redskins Mike Garifolo from NFL Network reported it and then Diana Rusini from ESPN confirmed

it and said that Ron Rivera is going to reach out to talk to Josh Norman.

The implication there being that perhaps Norman's days in Washington aren't completely over.

His days in Washington under the contract that he signed are over. he's not going to earn $12.5 million in 2020 being a Redskins cornerback.

We all knew that that was coming.

I mean, that was hardly news to all of us that followed the team.

There was no way they weren't going to take the, you know, roughly $9 million in cap savings by releasing him.

But given that his best success came with Ron Rivera in Carolina, it's not surprising and wouldn't be surprising to me.

And wouldn't be a repulsive notion to me if Ron Rivera decided, hey, I want you,

Josh Norman on this team. We just can't pay you 12.5 million bucks. We need a team friendly deal.

If you don't get a team friendly, if you don't get a lot of guaranteed money in a big time deal

elsewhere, we'd be interested in having you back.

John Kime wrote a story just moments ago, and he had talked to Josh Norman, and Norman said,

it's their choice, not mine, now I can start something new and fresh. That was the quote in the John Kimes story.

I would certainly think that Josh Norman's going to go out there to see what's out

there, to see if there's a team that wants to give him a guaranteed deal for a couple of years

for decent money for a guy that hasn't played well recently and who is 32 years old, you know, and needs

a certain scheme. Like, I don't know that Josh Norman is the guy that you just bring in and you

say, hey, we can play him in man, we can play him in zone, we can play him outside, we can play

him inside. He's not that versatile. You know, we've seen that over the last, you know, several years with Josh Norman being in Washington.
