Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Well, it's the end of another year.

As I look back, I can admit it.

I probably could have done better this past year. So it's time to get serious and take

massive action, be more productive at work, better spouse, work on my kids, my exercise,

my spiritual practices. I'm tired already. God certainly does not want nor does he need us to get busy. Let's consider St. Joseph at rest.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way.

When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph before they came together,

she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit and her husband Joseph being a just man, an unwilling to put her to shame,

resolved to send her away quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, don't be afraid to take Mary your wife.

For that which is conceived of her as of the Holy Spirit,

she will bear a son and you will call his name Jesus,

for he will save his people from their sins.

And when Joseph awoke from sleep,

he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.

It's interesting.

Joseph doesn't rush off and get busy fixing the situation.
