Summary

Dr. Jordan Cooper, a Lutheran Pastor, recently produced a video (seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwgxb...) critiquing Dr. Leighton Flowers' video on total moral inability from birth (seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egxHq...)

Disappointingly, Dr. Cooper does not do his homework on the actual beliefs of Traditional Southern Baptists (ie Provisionists) before producing a video in which he erroneously slaps onto us the heretical label "Pelagian."

To better understand why Traditional Southern Baptists (Provisionists) cannot be deemed Semi-Pelagian/Pelagian, please watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1leI... Or read this article by Dr. David Allen: https://soteriology101.com/2018/10/08...

To better understand how Provisionism differs from classical Arminianism please read these articles: https://soteriology101.com/?s=arminian

Hello and welcome back to Sochiology 101.

We're going to be replying to a video that was just released by Dr. Jordan Cooper, who is a Lutheran on YouTube.

And I don't know a lot about Dr. Cooper except for a debate that I listen to where he is actually defending against limited atonement in a view more that we would hold to with regard to the universal extent of the atonement. And, and I appreciate his perspective on some of those things. In fact, one of the things that I get a little bit confused about when it comes to Lutheranism is how they seem so in support of what we believe with regard to God's provision for all people,

0:48.4

and yet still defend the exegetical commentary of Calvinist in places like Romans 8, 9 and Ephesians 1 and other places.

0:57.0

And to me, it seems very contradictory.

0:58.9

It seems backwards.

1:00.7

But, and I'll just be honest, I don't know a lot about Lutheranism.

1:05.1

In fact, listening to this video, I'm quite convinced that Dr. Cooper knows about as much about traditional Southern

1:13.3

Baptist as I do about Lutheranism. The difference is he did a video about us without doing

1:19.4

very much homework. And to his credit, he does admit that. He does come out and say, I don't have a lot of

1:25.0

time for critiquing all these videos because I have to learn a whole new system of thought.

1:31.3

And I understand that. I get that.

1:33.3

It's difficult to dive in there.

1:35.3

But my advice would be if you don't have the time to do the research, then don't do the video.

1:40.3

Because what you end up doing, in my estimation, is misrepresenting another group of people by putting heretical labels on them.

1:50.0

And I take that a little more seriously than maybe Dr. Cooper does, just putting out a video for thousands of people to see,

1:56.7

and possibly hundreds and thousands more later down the road as your YouTube video grows,

2:03.1

accusing people of something they don't believe.

2:05.7

And I find that to be very irresponsible for a theologian and a fellow brother in Christ to do that to somebody else.

2:13.9

And so I try to be a little bit more careful when I'm understanding, trying to understand another perspective.

2:19.3

And like I've said before, I don't understand a lot about Lutheranism, which is one of the reasons I have not done a video on Lutheranism.

2:26.3

I think it would be you're responsible to do that because I don't know enough in order to take it.
