As some of you may know, I join Quilett in 2017 as an editor and occasional writer, and at

first I thought of the podcast as a sideline to my main job.

But as our listenership has grown, it's become a more central part of the job and something I've really come to love doing.

So thanks to all of you for listening to the

podcast and helping me become a podcaster. Now in most cases the Quillett

podcast is kind of a one-person operation. I choose the guests, record the interviews, edit the audio files, add a few

advertisements, and then publish the finished podcast for all of you to download.

But this week the podcast guest was chosen by my boss, Quilette founder and editor-in-chief Claire Lehman.

And this is something I am at pains to emphasize because today's guest is me.

And I didn't want anyone to think that I had called my own number for

podcast number 200. Now the episode you're about to hear is excerpted from a

really long conversation that Claire and I had over Zoom earlier this month, and it wasn't possible to air all of it.

But even with all the cuts, Claire and I still covered a lot of topics.
