Sunday after I'm done, we'll talk about Jonathan Edwards' wife who had a very significant role in the

revivals of his day. Let me explain how I'm going to end this time, these two weeks.

What I like to do today is to sort of,

by rapidly, from my standpoint, take you on my pilgrimage with Jonathan Edwards, and then talk a little bit about the man himself.

So we'll walk through my walking into Edwards books over the last 27 years or so and then look at his life

and then next Sunday will focus right in on his engagement with the Revivals.

There were two major revival seasons.

1734, 35, and 1741, 42, and trailing off into 43.

Edwards was a pastor, theologian who lived from 1703 to 1758. He died when he was not quite 55 years old and is regarded by many as the most powerful preacher and theologian and some

I would say even philosopher that America has ever produced.

But let me save his life till the end of our time this morning and begin by introducing you to his thought.

And the reason I spend a whole Sunday here on what you might call non-revivalistic Edwards that is what did he think what was his his

framework is because you need to know how God uses different kinds of people.
