Summary

Jon is from West Des Moines, Iowa and played high school football for Dowling Catholic. After early success on the baseball field in his youth, Jon found his talent and size to be pretty useful in Football as well, and he amassed offers from Northern Illinois, Kansas St, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa. After choosing Iowa City as the place to spend his next 4 years he dealt with injury in the spring our his freshman year that was a contributing factor in finding it difficult to see playing time. He talks about what it was like being in the room with guys like Hamilton, Kreiger-Coble, Fiedorowicz, Kittle, Hockenson, Fant, and others and the challenge of the Tight End position amongst that group. We discuss the topic of identity relating back to episode 228(28) and how he went through a rough patch while still playing the game, and how his Faith guided him and gave him an anchor in life.
