Welcome to Take Your Shoes Off. I'm super excited to introduce my first guest, John

DeWalt, for the hardcore fans out there who I believe refer to themselves as the

glassman-boppers. You probably already understand the significance of having John

DeWalt on the first episode. I'd like to give you a little bit of podcast back

story. About five years ago I spent $3,000 that I didn't have on podcast

equipment for a podcast that I never made. Now I actually recorded a whole bunch

of episodes, different themes, different guests. I just never posted them. So I'm

with my best bud, John DeWalt. I'm telling about all these first episodes and

come up with the idea, why not create a podcast called the first episode? We

pretended that we've been recording podcasts since ninth grade together and

we're just gonna put them all up once a week. It was fun, it was high energy, you

could still check them out at the first episode podcast, but that's not why we're

here. We're here to relax. So John DeWalt, improviser, writer, husband, best

friend, co-producer on Foxes the Cool Kids. And as of a week ago yesterday,

father to the cutest baby girl I've ever seen in my life, shout out to baby

Iris. So more significance yesterday was the 17th anniversary of my first kiss.

Shout out to Sarah for letting me kiss her in the laundry room. It took me

months to build up the confidence to do this. I'm a senior in high school by the

way. So I'm late to the party. Months. I already gone to prom with her and I

still do. We slept together at after prom. Literally, we fell asleep in the same

chair while she was asleep. I kissed the top of her head. She didn't know, but it
