Hey, this is Meredith Foster.

John Acuff grew up in church.

Faith was always a part of his story.

But for a long time, the way he understood God, well, it felt more like pressure than relationship. And that shaped

everything, how he saw himself, how he approached life, even how he thought about his purpose.

Today, John is a New York Times best-selling author and speaker, but his story isn't just about

where he's ended up. It's about what happened when his faith became

personal, when God began to reshape the way John saw him and how that changed the way he walked

through fear, calling, and the decisions in front of him. This is a story about what happens

when God meets you in the middle of your life and begins to change the way you see

him and the way you see yourself. Like a lot of people, I grew up in the church. My dad planted a

Southern Baptist Church in the 1980s in Massachusetts. So we moved from North Carolina to New England

for him to go to seminary and plant up there,

which was unheard of at the time.

Like Southern Baptist churches in the 1980s weren't in Massachusetts.

So I got to experience kind of the entrepreneur, adventurous side of planting a church, which

was a lot of fun.
