It is Friday, April 12th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines

of the day. On Mike Johnson, FISA, and other adventures ahead.

Let's get into it.

So the adventure over FISA, which lasted, I guess, December into this year and into a failed attempt to clear a rule earlier this week is going

to end today. Mike Johnson is poised and he's poised. I have no idea. We have no idea

whether the rule is going to pass. Actually, we have an idea. It's probably going to pass.

But it should come to an end today. Mike Johnson should be able to clear FISA today before heading to Maraago for a 430 press

conference with Donald Trump.

Now, it's been a journey, as the kids say.

This is Johnson, as I just said, his fourth attempt to get FISA through.

And it's a great illustration of what Johnson needs to go through to get anything done and what happens if he doesn't.

To get this vote, the House Republican leadership had to get buy-in from former President Donald Trump as well as hard-line conservatives.

They shrunk as we scooped yesterday.

They shrunk the deadline that FISA

would expire from five years to two years to give Donald Trump the ability theoretically,

if he wins the presidency to rewrite FISA. And, uh, it just illustrates, you know, pretty trite to say, but it illustrates it, it illustrates
