I first talked to John Ziegler about seven years ago on my radio show in Washington, DC.

It was not long after Joe Pa had passed away and Sandusky was firmly behind bars and most of America and the sporting media had made up their minds.

Yet there was John Ziegler, along with Steeler legend Franco Harris, as the only two strong voices out there saying paterno was framed.

It was enough for me and Sally and Scott to kind of basically laugh at the very idea and to fit them for public dunce caps. It was easy dunking on them to say so.

Ziegler, meanwhile, came on my show and said he was already on the trail of just how badly Justice was administered in the Sandusky trial.

He said he thought in the end he'd have a strong case that even Sandusky didn't do it, much less Joe paterno being responsible for some grand cover-up.

I thought at the time, yeah buddy, right.
