Summary

It’s Week 4 in our John reading plan, and this week Raechel and Amanda are joined by Beth Redman. Within this week’s readings, they spend time finding encouragement from one of Beth’s favorite passages—John 15. Reflecting on their own lives, they remind us that whatever comes our way, in Christ, we can always have fellowship with the Father right in the middle of it.

Hello and welcome to the She Reads Truth podcast. She Reads Truth creates beautiful, accessible Bible reading plans and resources to help you get into God's Word every day. Each week here on the podcast, we talk about what we're going to read together as a community this week. I'm your host, Amanda Bible Williams.

0:20.2

And I'm your other host,

0:21.3

Rachel Myers, and this is week four of five of our study in the Book of John. Boy, we were just

0:26.8

clipping right along. And like, I'm loving this series and kind of sad that it's almost over.

0:32.5

We are joined today by our friend Beth Redman. Beth is a Bible teacher, podcaster, speaker. She didn't even write this in her bio, but also, like, very, like, prolific worship music writer, but she didn't even put that. I just, like, that's what I love about her. Casual. It's fine. It's not a big deal. And that's the thing. She wants to be known as a woman who loves the Lord

0:54.9

and loves His Word. And I just can't wait for y'all to hear this episode. She has so many wise things

0:59.7

to say. Let's get right to it. Oh, my dear Beth Redman, welcome back to the She Reads Truth

1:06.7

podcast. I've missed you. And it's so good to see your face. So good to be back with you both.

1:12.3

Oh my goodness. Well, I feel like just from a friend moment, I mean, you have just done some

1:18.8

launching. I have done some launching of kids. I probably talk about this too much on here,

1:23.9

but like I am processing the grief of like dropping a kid off at college this fall

1:28.4

for the first time. But you, my friend, have dropped children all over the globe this fall.

1:34.5

Yeah, it's been quite a season. I've got five children. So the oldest is 25, the youngest is 15.

1:40.2

And so I've done some launching. And all my children apart from one were premature. And so there was that

1:46.7

moment where I've just given birth to them and I have to leave. I have to go home and I have to put them in

1:51.8

someone else's care. And it was horrible. And it doesn't matter the fact that they are not newborns

1:58.3

anymore who need me for everything. It was the same

2:02.0

feeling. Oh my word. And I launched one, you know, seven years ago and then another one five years

2:09.7

ago at college. But I had others at home, you know, I was a busy mom. So it didn't mean,

2:14.8

listen, the buildup is worse than the drop off. So Anyone who hasn't processed this yet, if it feels horrendous, it gets better.

2:22.8

I'm taking notes.

2:24.0

Yeah. But I always had others, you know, and I had a full cup, full plates.
