someone who certainly did great things for Bo Schembeckler back in his day and also stays very close to

Michigan football knows a whole lot about it. John Wengler, welcome to the Wolverine Live.

Hey, thanks, John and Tom. Happy to be here. Appreciate you having me out. Well, we're going to jump

right into football, obviously, with a guest like John Wangler.

And the one thing I want to start this off with John, we're going to talk a lot of spring ball

and do all kinds of things like that. But this has been a question for me that I've tossed

around in my mind, and I want your take on it.

When Jim Harbaugh came to Ann Arbor, it was, oh, look out, everything's going to turn around.

Ohio State better fear the Wolverines again.

It's going to turn into championships.

And you had that second season where it looked like, wow, it's here, 2016, and you came right down to the wire. You're up 10 in

Columbus. And then things, I don't know, they leveled out a little bit, if not certainly they went down in 2020.

Then all of a sudden, the last two years, things just take off like a rocket ship.

I want to know from you, John Wangler, what either in your mind, what clicked for this program,

or was it a culmination of all the work that these guys, Jim Harbaugh,

especially had put into it over a number of years?

It's really, in my opinion, it was a combination of both, really.

I think, you know, everyone, when Jimmy came uh, you know, everyone just thought it was going to

snap your fingers and it was going to be us in Ohio State, you know, like the old days. And,

you know, we had some work to do. I mean, we had some good players, but, you know, they had not
