Summary

In this episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, John shares his story of being married to a demanding emotional abuser. John was quickly smitten with his future wife, bonding over commonalities, including family trauma. However, once they got married, John's wife began to isolate him and tear down his self-esteem. John's wife was all about optics. Suddenly John's job was not good enough, then it was his appearance, followed by their apartment, and it was all John's fault even if he didn't do anything wrong. It's a story of demands, putdowns, body shaming, optics, blame, never being good enough, no win situations, financial abuse, isolation, self-esteem, intergenerational trauma, excuses, criticism disguised as jokes, rage, and leaving for good.
