Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Today is the feast of John the Apostle. According to

tradition, John is the disciple whom Jesus loved, who at the last supper rested his head upon the heart of Jesus, stood

at the foot of the cross together with the mother of Jesus and witnessed both the empty tomb and the presence of the risen one himself.

But of all the truths to which John leaves testimony, let us focus on this one.

Through Jesus, God came to establish an intimate friendship with each one of us.

For Jesus said, greater love has no man than this, that a man

lay down his life for his friends. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing,

but I have called you friends.

For all that I have heard from my father,

I have made known to you.

Our father who art in heaven,

hollow would be your name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth

as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against

us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us for me
