John Small is a high school football coach for East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. His father, John Small was the Atlanta Falcons number one draft pick (12th overall) in the 1970 NFL Draft and played five seasons with the Falcons and Lions. His son began coaching in 1997 at the University of West Georgia but transitioned to high school in 1998 and has been coaching high school football since.
From 2005-2017, Small was the head coach at South Gwinnett High School before transitioning to East Coweta in 2018. Over his 19 seasons as a head coach, Small has had multiple playoff appearances.
