So this is very exciting for me for a number of different reasons.

I'm Dan Levittard and my guest today is a partner and this is a bit of a love story

here because this is a man who has been a bit of a mentor to me, a man who has cared about

I've cared about a man who comes from privilege, not at the earliest roots, but at the top

of ESPN is the most powerful executive in sports and he decided on his own to hand down

some of that privilege to some minorities that he empowered and then I turn did at ESPN.

His work spiritually, he was an executive at Rolling Stone at the time when magazines

were flourishing and when Rolling Stone embodied a certain spirit in America, he's a literary

man, an educated man and for a really long time, he was the most powerful executive across

sports.

He's also my friend and someone I love because he has given me a great deal, given my

family a great deal of opportunity, of belief because ESPN was under indexing with Hispanics

and they needed somebody Hispanic on the air.

So we created a television show in which I was not Hispanic enough so we brought in my

father as a cartoon character and he was extra Hispanic and Skipper would sit on the

end of his bed and watch that show as original programming that he had made for the network

because he was trying to do things like playmakers and push the boundaries.

So I want to talk to John Skipper, my friend, my mentor, a guy I now go into business with
