It's time for a little bit of celebration.

Everyone within and without the film industry

has been doing a lot of hand-ringing

about the state of theatrical distribution,

and movies in general, including me.

The trend has been for the studios and exhibitors

to place all their bets on big budget comic book movies

and their sizes, pretty much eliminating any screen space

that might have otherwise provided room

for original movies with a unique personal cinematic point of view.

We've been decrying the death of the theatrical movie

going experience, the studios throwing up their hands

and saying the people want Marvel movies and sequels
