As 2025 wraps up, it's natural for us to look back a bit.

And that's good.

It's good to pause and remember how God has met us over the past 12 months.

I'm Dan Kruver, and this is light and truth.

And let me just say, thank you for listening this year. Really, it's been a privilege to open God's word with you five days a week. Now looking back

matters. Scripture actually calls us to it, but we're not meant to stay there. The whole point of

remembering is to strengthen our faith for what's ahead.

The God who was faithful then will be faithful again.

So today, as we step toward a new year, we want to lift our eyes in that direction.

We've got a special brief message from John Piper that helps us move from

gratitude for the past to fresh confidence for the future in 2026. The older I get, the more

relevant Philippians 313 becomes for me.

Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Now, I don't think that means you become less aware or less thankful for decades of past ministry and past blessings.

I think it means prioritize hope over nostalgia, prioritize future purpose over past achievement. And for young people, that's just natural. The whole

future lies in front of them. But for older people, it takes an effort. And that effort for me

has been made so much easier by being a part of desiring God,

just because there's so much energy for the future here and not just thinking about the past.

So I get caught up into it as a contagion, and I feel, come on, Piper, finish the projects you're working on. Press on with them.

You've only got eight more chapters to go to finish, look at the book on all of Paul's letters.
