1:16.1	And they say things like, well, Dr. Piper, we don't think you're understanding certain texts about God's election and salvation properly because you have hyper individualized it.
1:25.4	You have made it about God choosing certain individuals
1:28.5	before the foundation of the world for reasons unknown. When in reality, when Paul says things
1:33.9	like, I thank God that you have received the gospel with power and that God has chosen you,
1:40.7	you're thinking about the individuals being chosen. You're thinking that Paul is saying,
1:44.5	I praise God, that he chose you, Bill, and you Sue, and you, Tim, and not over there,
1:49.2	that guy and that guy and that guy. I thank God he's chosen you individually and somehow
1:52.9	supernaturally changed your heart and made you into a believer so that you would be conformed
1:57.5	into Christ's image and so that you'd be made holy and blameless and so that you would be saved.
2:01.8	That's the way you're individualizing the text when what Paul is most likely saying in his more
2:06.3	corporate type of language as a more familial corporate type of writer that he was as a first
2:13.4	century church would be, is saying instead, I thank God that you accepted our gospel, the Jews
2:18.9	brought you the gospel, us Jewish apostles, brought you the Gentile, predominantly Gentile
2:24.5	church, because he's the apostle to the Gentiles. And he's saying to them, I thank God that he's
2:29.2	chosen you from the beginning. He has chosen to graft in all the nations of the world that the very first
