1:30.0	When police arrived on the scene shortly before 11 p.m. on December 8, 1980, John Lennon was
1:48.5	in such bad shape that they could not wait for the ambulance to arrive.
1:53.8	The officers scooped up John Lennon and put them in the back of a police squad car to rush
2:00.4	him off to Roosevelt Hospital.
2:03.6	Because of the location of the bullet holes, they had to lie him in the back of the vehicle
2:09.8	face down so that John would not choke on his own blood.
2:15.3	John was wheeled into the emergency room.
2:18.2	By this point, he had lost about 80% of his blood and virtually had no pulse at all.
2:25.2	Doctors and nurses were looking for a way to save this man's life.
2:30.5	So they made an incision in the left chest and separated the ribs and found a very large
2:37.0	amount of blood.
2:38.6	They looked for an injury to the heart and they used by hand to try to pump and massage
2:46.7	the heart to bring this man back to life.
2:50.1	But every time they pumped, most of what they pumped simply just came out blood out of
2:56.3	the holes.
2:57.8	It was totally ineffective.
3:00.0	Although seven medics tried desperately to revive him, John Lennon was finally pronounced
3:06.5	dead.
3:07.5	And at 11.15 p.m. on ABC Monday Night Football, Howard Cocelle announced John's death to the
3:16.3	world and you heard that clip in the trailer for part one of our coverage of John Lennon's
3:23.2	case.
