I'm Alan Alder, and this is clear and vivid conversations about connecting and communicating. So I was based loosely on the director's life. She had a difficult dad, narcissistic dad in real life,

and they had been estranged, and she kept trying to reach him at some point later in life,

calling him, writing. I didn't respond, so she went on Facebook and started connecting with him.

But they met in a cafe, and they realized that that wasn't her dad.

She was connecting with somebody who had the same name as her dad,

but they were so much nicer than her own dad.

And they stayed friends forever.

And he was a better dad than her real dad.

And that's the story.

in the U.S. He's funny and outspoken and he possesses a quality in his acting that I think is

very valuable. John, this is so good for me because I love to be able to talk to people on the show

who are actors who I admire.

What I love is that you're spontaneous and simple and sincere.

You don't see the wheels turning.

And there are a lot of good actors who you know are good deliberately.

You see them doing the best to be good.

I see you being the guy, that's all.
