I'm Mick Garris and this is the very first post-mortem podcast with our new partners at

Fangoria. It's an exciting new endeavor with a brand new Fango. I have a long

history with the magazine way back in the early 80s. I actually wrote a couple of articles for them and they have covered most of my work over the years.

Now under new ownership, the magazine has been completely revamped as a high-end quarterly and the company is getting into book

publishing and film production in a big way. We're very happy to be joining them

and being a part of the team. Our guest and I go back along the way as well. I first heard of John

Landis while listening to a radio interview he did when he was in production on his first

movie Schlock. The piece was all about this 21-year-old whiz kid making a comedy monster movie about

the Schluachthropis, which Landis himself played.

I met him years later when I was answering phones for the original Star Wars in a little office

building across from Universal Studios that used to be a motel, and Landis was in his office next

door in pre-production on National Lampoon's Animal House.

Since that time, our paths have crossed often.

He was executive producer on my first job

as a writer-director on the Disney TV movie Fuzz Bucket.

I was a zombie and Michael Jackson's thriller, which John directed.

I cast him in the stand, sleepwalkers and Quicksilver Highway.

He cast me in the stupids as one of Christopher Lee's henchman.

Unfortunately, my scene with Lee lies on the cutting room floor.
