So lots to discuss today, and I know this is out of chronological order of how you wrote these books,

but I wanted to discuss love poems for married people first for many reasons. One, because it's so ridiculously hilarious and I loved it.

And two, because Valentine's Day is around the corner, and this is such a perfect, giftable item,

and everybody should be giving it to their husbands and wives and everything.

So how did you come up with the idea for writing this little collection of poems after your two novels?

It wasn't my idea, actually. I had written a piece a couple of years ago for The New Yorker for Shouts and Murmors called Valentine's Day poems for married people.
