During the hearing, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) read a series of disturbingly graphic passages from two books that are supposedly available to children in Illinois. Meanwhile, Parents Defending Education President Nicki Neily told the Senate that “we don’t put Playboy in kindergartens. This isn’t considered a book ban, but common sense.”
