There are seven house races outstanding.

Six of the seven are in California.

Ah.

But the bigger news is that the Republicans won their 218th seat, so they're assured of a majority.

And then there's seven races to go.

Out of the six in California, two are trending Republican.

So maybe they'll get up to 220 or so.

This morning, the big story and it continues to be throughout the day.

One happened to a bunch of police recruits at an academy in the Whittier area.

They included L.A. County Sheriff's deputy recruits, but also police agencies like Bell,

Glendale, Pasadena, El Segundo, and UCLA Police Department.

Anyway, 75 of them were out there for a training run, and the route took them into the street.

And just before 6.30 this morning, in the area of South Whittier near Mills Avenue and Trumbull Street,

there was a wrong way driver who apparently slammed into the recruits.

From what we understand, the recruits in the front of the run, managed to swing out of the way

of this driver, but those behind didn't get enough notice or heads up as to what was going on.

25 were hit and have injuries ranging from head trauma to the loss of limbs.
