The L.A. County Registrar is still going to try to verify all of the signatures and see whether or not we hit the number necessary

to put this on the ballot. In the meantime, barely a day or a week goes by that there isn't

another gas gone story. This time, it's the efforts to remove the death penalty from a man

who shot two 19-year-old college students in the back of the head and stole their car in 1994.

Yeah, this guy, his name is Raymond Oscar Butler.

He got death, no parole.

He's 47.

He was 18 at the time, and that ought to tell you where the sympathies of Gascones lie.

Gascon's argument is he had a bad childhood. He endured violence and trauma. So we got

we got to give him a break here, not judge him too harshly even though he murdered these two young

people. Let's say, well, before we do that, in 1995, he stabbed another inmate to death.

So, he's got three murders.

It comes from the same trauma.

And it says here that they're only trying to remove the death sentence for the attack on the two students.
