Well, yesterday we talked about this, and we decided it was worth getting a guest on to explore it further.

Back in 2020, when the whole panic over the COVID-19 began to consume the entire country.

The city of L.A. and the county got really worked up over dining, indoor dining, outdoor dining.

Eventually, they did allow people, restaurant owners, to set up outdoor dining with an Al Fresco program,

and they waived a lot of the bureaucracy, the paperwork, the months of approval

to get these people on the fast track to save their restaurants. Well, now here we are in

2023. And now they want to go back and sort of do a reset with all this and put people through

all the red tape of applying for an outdoor dining permit.

So all these restaurants already have their tables, their chairs, their heaters, their

partitions up.

The city now wants them to reapply for a permanent permit and spend tens of thousands of

dollars for something that already exists

and is working really well and isn't bothering anyone.
