Well, we talked about a story yesterday that there is a trial out there to try to get people off of drugs by offering

them gift cards. They actually have a name called contingency management for this.

We've also talked in the past about the term harm reduction. As the drugs get bigger and more

dangerous, the focus here in California among the politicians

is to deal with it with a policy that's called harm reduction.

Basically, it means you stand by with Narcan, and in some cases you actually provide

clean needles or other things they need to take their drugs.

You just want to make sure that they don't die.

You're trying to manage the problem and reduce the chance of them harming themselves.

Of course, Prop 47 famously got rid of many felony charges for drug use.

So that was the beginnings of this in 2014.

But now we've gotten to the point with fentanyl taking over a lot of the drug use, either knowingly or unknowingly among drug users.

We're in a much tougher situation now with the overdose deaths.
