thrilled to be here as a guest host. My next guest is an amazing, amazing writer and thinker. Her

name is Anna Lemke. She's a professor of psychiatry from Stanford University. She wrote a brilliant

bestselling book called Dopamine Nation.

And I'll let her explain it, but basically this book argues that we can get addicted to just

about anything to social media, pornography, drugs, of course, drugs and alcohol, and that you

don't get pleasure without some pain,

and the two things are sort of balanced, and we need to do a better job of regulating

pleasure and pain, or we're going to go sideways like so many people are doing right now in our

society.
