taxes. They couldn't always get votes, blah, blah, blah. So eventually, they were forced to pass or at least come up with a budget by June 15th and then pass it by the end of the month.

Well, they did that in a state senate and assembly, which is greatly controlled by Democrats, so it's not hard to strike some sort of a deal.

The deadline would be tomorrow, but apparently it was announced last night

that they had reached a preliminary state budget plan,

which they have to mesh with Newsom and come up with the final budget.
